Torpedo / Quiznos

Turkey Club
Turkey, bacon, mozzarella, chopped lettuce and tomato, mayo, Red Wine Vinaigrette

Well, Yesterday I took one for team http://eatfresh2009.wordpress.com to checkout the competition. See Subway has a good thing going on with the 5 $ footlong "ANY" right now. And Quiznos is trying to steal the Thunder of that, with their new 4 $ Torpedo. Well here are my pros and cons;

CON: Supposedly it is over a footlong. It's about a footlong, and it is as skinny at shit. It is less then half the size of a subway footlong in width. Think of a hot dog bun made of cabatta bread.
CON: The condiments are all chopped up like a salad and fall out of the "hot dog bun" as you eat it.
CON: Have to eat it like a taco, not a sandwich.
CON: I had to cut it in half myself, when I got home.
CON: The condiments are preset.
CON: I couldn't see them making it, all their sauce shelving was up against the sneeze guard.
CON: So small I ate the whole thing. It fills you up like a "6 inch" No second half to look forward too.
CON: The person making my sandwich was white college student, as she was making my "Torpedo" she was taking forever because she was talking to her friend on the other side of the counter...It wasn't all business making sandwiches like the immigrants and Subway. That upset me.
CON: They hypnotize you with the perfectly toastedness, so you can forget about the shitty performance they give.
CON: Widowmakers are 1.29 extra. Thumbs down.

PRO: Perfectly Toasted
PRO: Acceptional flavor, bread was softer then I thought.
PRO: For me the anxiety of wondering what to put on it- No confrontation.
PRO: forgot about the cons as I was eating it.

With all those cons, Clearly the Choice is Subway.....It just more VALUE involved.

If I was forced to rate this on a 90 point scale, doesn't deserve the 100 scale.
70/90

Mulder's Hair Cut

I gave Mulder a trim down today. He didn't really need it but we have been going on long walks lately and it's flea season. I just want to keep him in good spirits as we walk. It takes about an hour to trim him. I take hm for a walk to tire him out. Then you should see him, he just lays there and closes his eyes until I am done, then I give him a treat for being such a good sport.

Last time we walked him (Travis & I) he had to stop in the middle of the sidewalk and scratch ed his head with his hind leg, adorably of course, but poor thing. Well the flea once a month squeeze didn't protect to well I guess, so we slapped on a collar which we purchases on our walk last week and the fleas jumped ship. But I am convinced that it gave me an allergic reaction. So I resort drastic measures. I'll have to find some other form of protection that will be right for both of us.

Home made Tuna

Well today, I made my own Tuna sandwich with ingredients as follows

Chunck Light Tuna
Olive oil 1 tbs
corn
chopped carrots
Clover Honey - drizzle
Cilantro - small bunch chopped
Lime juice - half a lime
salt & pepper
Light Mayo - 1tbs

Mixed together and slap some on Sare Lee Whole Wheat Honey oat Bread. Wow, so good. I think Skyler and Chris will love it, Travis maybe. Was to excited and forgot to take a picture, maybe tomorrow.

None of the ingredients were a mistake. That's what makes it so great I rate my own creation on a 200 point scale (180/200)

The score is high because one can of Tuna makes about two sandwiches. So I can make a fresh one later or tomorrow. May you guys should order the second half of the sandwich dissembled so it if fresh when you want it.

Subway Sandwich Artists Profile

If you are a follower of the eat fresh movement at eatfresh2009.wordpress.com then you are well aware of the "Tuna Scoop Debate"

"Well I of course went for a 12 inch tuna today to further prove how right I am. Even though Chris already did it today and proved it for me. He thought that seeing only 4 scoops on the 12 inch didn’t quite prove it because he would never test a 6 inch, but that’s not the issue."

I was looking at what jobs are out there in my neighborhood today and came across the job description of the Subway Sandwich Artist. If you click on the photo above you can clearly see that one of the "Duties" of the Artist IS portion control. I believe in the for scoop regime. Viva four scoops.

Britney & Madonna

Who doesn’t love the magic of a Madonna and Britney Spears duet? Right. No one. So you can only imagine how excited fans were about a rumor that Madge might show up at Brit’s big Nassau Coliseum show later this month.

The rumor was started by someone claiming to be Britney’s stylist. David Alexander spilled details of the supposed super secret duet to celebrity weekly In Touch. “She’ll be singing with Madonna in New York. It will be ‘Get Together’ and ‘Trouble.’ So, together the song is called ‘Lose Control,’” Alexander told the magazine, implying a mash-up of the singers’ hits. The alleged stylist added that Madge might also join Britney for one of her L.A. shows in April. “It’s supposed to be a surprise!”

Well, the only thing surprising here is that the rumor isn’t true. A post on Britney’s Web site debunked the whole thing: “Despite rumors otherwise, at the moment Britney has no plans to collaborate with anyone in the near future at any of her upcoming performances.”

The post also addressed the source of the rumor: “PS — David Alexander is not Britney’s stylist nor have we ever heard of him.”

OK, so it’s not true, but it didn’t seem that crazy. Madge did stop by Brit’s first Nassau Coliseum show on March 11. And let’s not forget last fall when Brit made a surprise appearance at one of Madonna’s shows. Despite the denial, we’re still not ready to rule out the thought of the Material Girl returning the favor once again at the big show later this month.

OH HELL NO

When you hear the world “elderly” what age comes to mind? If your answer was 90, you definitely don’t want to hear about this new study.

“Old age begins at 27” the headline reads. And no, that isn’t a typo.

Those senior moments we've heard about actually start happening shortly after the brain’s abilities peak at 22, according to researchers at the University of Virginia.

The study was recently published in the journal Neurobiology of Aging. (We'd love to link to the full research, but the journal charges for its articles.)

Two thousand men and women between the ages of 18 and 60 were studied over seven years, and researchers found top performance in the puzzles and other problems the participants were asked to solve occurred in those at 22 years old.

The first age at which scores for things like reasoning, speed of thought and spatial visualization started to drop, was 27 according to the Daily Mail.

Memory dropped around 37. (For those of you over 37, you’re reading an article about when old age begins, just in case you’ve already forgotten.)

So what can we look forward to? An increase in vocabulary reportedly appears around 60. Well at least that’s somethin’.
